
Dan-O’s – Chicken Marsala
Chicken Marsala is a classic Italian-American dish that combines tender chicken breasts with a rich and flavorful Marsala wine sauce. Perfectly sautéed with mushrooms, garlic, and onion, this dish offers a delightful balance of savory and slightly sweet flavors. Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp Dan-O’s Italian-O™ Seasoning
- 1 1/2 lb. boneless, skinless chicken breasts (2 to 3) or pre-made cutlets
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 small onion, chopped fine
- 3 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
- 1 cup Marsala wine
- 1/4 cup brown gravy mix
- 2 tbsp flour mixed with 1/2 cup water – to thicken sauce
- 16 oz mushrooms, sliced
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. Prepare the chicken: Hold chicken breasts flat and butterfly them.
3. Mix the egg and milk in a bowl.
4. In a shallow bowl, mix breadcrumbs and 1 tbsp Dan-O’s Italian-O™ Seasoning.
5. Dip the chicken pieces in the egg/milk mix then coat in breadcrumbs.
6. Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in skillet over med high heat.
7. Brown both sides of the chicken in skillet. Place on baking sheet and bake 20-25 mins.
8. For marsala sauce: add onions and garlic to skillet and cook about 5 mins until softened.
9. Slowly add the broth, parsley and wine.
10. Take out 1/2 cup of mixture and add brown gravy mix, stir, then add back to sauce. Add flour mixture and mushrooms and 1 tbsp Dan-O’s Italian-O™ Seasoning and mix well.
11. Cook down until slightly thickened.
12. Serve sauce over the chicken and pasta noodles, mashed potatoes, or crunchy bread if desired.
